One of the most cumbersome parts of tri training is dealing with your wet stuff (bathing suit, towels, goggles, swim cap, shower shoes, etc.) after you leave the gym. Before I have had only been using plastic shopping bags to hold my things within my gym bag and I always ended up getting my other things damp. I would be on the bus home and I would feel wet spots on my back from my things getting wet in my backpack.
I found The Friendly Swede Dry Bags and thankfully these have solved my problem. They’re intended to hold your things during any outdoor activity, hiking, camping, kayaking, etc. and keep them dry if you encounter rain or dew. But they’re also perfect for keeping wet clothing and things contained. I purchased a two pack with a 5L and a 10L dry bag. It also came with straps that you can use to carry them on your back while hiking or being outdoors.
I fit my bathing suit, goggles, swim cap, towel, toiletries and hair wrap towel (yes, j use a hair wrap and it’s the best) easily in the 5L bag. I’ve accidentally left my things in the pack for a few hours and there was no leaking or seeping through the sturdy neoprene. I can’t wait to use these on open water swim days and on race day.
How do you keep your swim things separated in your bag? Tell us in the comments!
